Don’t be so conservative this time, Vote Independent
I have nothing against Conservatives, in fact I have usually supported them, but the present situation in Bracknell Forest seems to have moved away from Party Politics and has taken a life of its’ own.
It would appear that a somewhat secretive and dominating Borough Executive is at odds with their own party. I have received a number of calls and messages of support for the main thrust of my campaign from disaffected Tories who quite clearly do not support the present actions of Bracknell Council, but are not prepared to vote against the Executive.
So why can they not do anything about it? Well in part it is to do with their having to support the party line and they are not able to independently voice their concerns. In part it is fear that they will be expelled or sidelined from the party if they do. Even if they purport to rebel against the party line as we have recently been informed, could this have as much to do with their rightly growing concern that other candidates might tip the balance and they need to be seen as being concerned. It seems curious that after years of supporting the proposal to build thousands of new houses in the area, all of a sudden they now say they are fighting to stop the plans. There must be an election coming.
Don’t be fooled by the siren voices of those who pretend that Councillors have learned a lesson and things will be better. This Council will only change course when they face the inevitable fact that the majority of residents do not support their proposals.
- We do not want thousands of new houses built on green land.
- The Council should develop brown land before tearing down trees and ripping up the landscape.
- If houses are to be built then we need an infrastructure to support new families.
- We do not want Blue Mountain Golf Course to be bricked over with more houses.
- We want Bracknell regeneration to start now and not 20 years in the future.
With 95% of the Council currently Conservative, who will voice your concerns? We need an independent voice to speak on behalf of residents. Someone who is not dictated to by political parties and someone who will look after your interests equally whichever political group you belong to be that Conservative, Labour, LibDem or Green.
This time vote for change.
Vote for Nigel Rennie your Independent Candidate.
